I understand hunting is alien in the UK, but that's becuase it's only there for the rich. Here, it's a tradition that is handed down from generation to generation and there are thousands of very politicaly active hunters. Due to the work of organizations like Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and others, the game have actucally increased in numbers. There are more deer and elk in the US than there have ever been. Ducks were fading fast until DU got involved and bought up millions of acres of land. They turned them into duck sanctuaries and now we have an assurance that ducks will continue to thrive.

As for eating dove, yes they are good. Most people pop the breasts out and wrap them in bacon. I've also eaten them battered and deep fried. Tastes a lot like a cross between spotted owl and bald eagle.<g>
