All three countries -- the UK, the US, and the USSR -- contributed significantly. Remove any of the three and the resistance to the Axis might have collapsed like a three legged stool with one leg removed. Agreed?


>Its a difficult on to judge but remember the Soviet Union defeated the German at Stalingrad in 1942 and where pushing them back after that for almost 2 years before the Western Allies engaged any significant forces. I tend to think If you look at the numbers fighting and the losses if anyone could be said to have defeated the Germans it was the Soviet Union.
