That's not my understanding of the situation. I think that FoxBase (as it was called then) had a very good reputation in the 80s, especially when it first made an appearance around 1987 as a competitor to dBase III+. It was so much a superior product (not just my opinion) that it overtook dBase in popularity over the next few years and was well ahead of dBase when MS took-over FoxPro in 1993.
