>>>>>>Its a difficult on to judge but remember the Soviet Union defeated the German at Stalingrad in 1942 and where pushing them back after that for almost 2 years before the Western Allies engaged any significant forces. I tend to think If you look at the numbers fighting and the losses if anyone could be said to have defeated the Germans it was the Soviet Union.

>>>
>>>Okay Terry, I made this one up!
>>>But maybe there was really such episode :)
>>>I wish they wld air repeats - they were all hillarious :)
>>>Right now, on one of cable channels they are repeating another of my all times favourite series - 'Yes PrimeMinister'
>>
>>Well I did too, Srdjan! :-) But there was an episode where there was a bomb in the gateau for the chateau, where General Von Klinkerhoffen was dining, and the mnemonic for the conspiritors was very amusing:
>>
>>"Do you not see that if we kill him with the pill from the till by making with it the drug in the jug, you need not light the candle with the handle on the gateaux from the chateau!" - Hans explaining to Rene that Von Klinkerhoffen is already doomed.
>
>That sounds like a take-off on Danny Kay's "The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle; the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true!" schtick from The Court Jester.

Yeah, I think it was inspired by that, but without all the annoying gurning and mouth twisting :-)
Did you ever see Allo Allo? One of my favourite BBC sit coms, with recurring themes that always made you laugh, no matter how many times you heard it, like "The painting of the Fallen Madonna viz the big boobies", or the gay German Lieutenant Gruber, who had a crush on Renee, and always offferd to take him for a ride in "may little tenk".

Ever get a chance to, watch it.
