Wars will always be waged (at least as far as I can tell at this point) - so that I agree with you on.
As far as being on the brink of destruction - well just because you've been there before doesn't mean you should just sit back at let the chips fall where they may. The reason we haven't destructed (yet) is because someone or a group of someones steps up to the plate and fixes the problem. So I think if your nations leaders wanted to start dropping nukes on people that hopefully MOST people would have the presence of mind to have an attitude other than the sky is falling, who cares.

Quite nobel, and a difficult job I wouldn't want to tackle myself. I'd be to afraid of getting wacked by one of the bad guys, or thinking the wrong guy was a bad guy when he wasn't. Personally I try to avoid conflict and violence and gun play...guess some people would rather run to it than stay away from it. Too each his own!
