The reason I'm asking is that I would like to take a stab at generating FRX files mechanically. I think I have a good feel for how individual fields are used as well as how the first header record is managed.

But I'm baffled about how to order (and link?) the records in my FRX to handle band records and their objects.

Pretty much everything you need to know is in the source code to ReportBuilder.App, particularly _frxcursor.vcx.

No, it's not laid out for you, unfortunately. You'll have to do some digging. You gotta *want* the information.

Also, nothing beats empirical tests. The authors of the Xbase reporting system components didn't have any documentation either.
