Not sure if this is your issue but, I had this happen on a raid drive once and it turned out to be a hard drive going bad. I have to buy and new one and it recoved after that.

I have been unable to pin point what software or service is doing this. Can you help me identify the program or the services that is causing this high activity on the disk drives?
