That is interesting.

I thought that EDI was an acronym for Electronic Data Interchange and referred to the process of copying large datasets between two systems. I've worked on what has been called 'EDI' and the data was in different formats.

Is it a reference to a holdover tape format - EBCIDIC and whatnot?
