Mostly from memory I remember Blix and other inspectors making the claim... Google search on "blix iraq missing weapons" and there it is... very first result:

http://www.cbc.ca/story/news/national/2003/02/14/un_report030214.html

Again, contrary to popular history revisionism, this was Blix' -- and many inspectors' -- conclusion just prior to the invasion... decidedly *not* just the "U.S. administration('s)" guesswork.

>Wait a sec... "Sadaam had WMDs... they're missing...", and you say this is not speculation? Your evidence that Sadaam had WMD's (after he said he'd destroyed what he had years before) is what? That the U.S. administration said so? The ridiculous pictures that Colin Powell brought to the UN? Also, you may be right, but I don't honestly recall Hans Blix saying anything of the sort. He searched for WMDs and found none. I have no recollection of his saying they were there and must have been moved. Can you point me to something that says he did?

>I don't know what the U.S. administration really knew or didn't know, but it seemed to me at the time that Bush could have let Blix finish his job. Was he afraid Blix would find nothing and thus spoil the reasons for the war? Just speculatin' here.

Finish his job? He had how many years to finish his job? 5? 10? Now, certainly, Saddam didn't let him do what he was supposed to do, but still... how long should the world wait before finally acting? How many UN resolutions must be passed over that time? How many times does the world intend to bark before despots like Saddam come to the conclusion that the dog is toothless? Does anyone truly believe the umpteenth time was the charm?
