One method is to simply have a memo field in each record. One neat idea I have seen involves not displaying it outright, but having it available through a button. When the user presses the button, do a MODI MEMO to allow editing. One thing I thought was clever was to have two different BMP's displayed in the button for the memo depending on whether it is empty or not. So if the user sees one picture, they know there are notes for this customer they may want to look at, but with another picture they know the field is empty.

I have even thought about having "notes" tables with memo fields to allow users to keep notes on certain screens, ie remember to enter such and such information on this screen, also controlled through buttons bringing up memo fields.

This method has the advantage of not using my screen real estate.
