Move the record pointer in a table other than the current workarea; it saves storing the current alias, selecting the target table, seeking, and then selecting the original table. Only problem is -- doesn't seem to want to work. I get errors including "Variable COMPANY not found" (COMPANY happens to be a field in mytable, but this command above doesn't have anything to do with that field as far as I can tell).

Kamal,

Good thought -- one step ahead of you -- yes, I did reindex. I even re-create the entire table with its indices.

Get this... I did a little test table with the same command and seeking parms, and it worked! I'm calling Microsoft today! If you've any other thoughts, I'd welcome them.

Thanks for the input,

Mark
