>I asked Whil. He said Michel had originally contacted him, but Michel never followed up.
Since the last two years, we let the conference owners to decide and contact us for the request if they wish have a coverage done from our infrastructure. I now let them decide which reporters they want to select and what kind of deal they want to negotiate with them, for the work being done, such as free conference registration and other things, if applicable. Once they have selected the reporters, they let me know and I send the reporters the technical guidelines.
So, since the last two years, Jean-René, Igor Vit, Rainer Becker, Bob Kocher and other conference owners have contacted us with the request. The reports were then delivered accordingly to our standards.
If I sent an introductory email to someone in regards to this, it was already a plus as oppose to how things were done in the last two years. I simply do not have time anymore to try to find reporters, exchange emails, coordinate efforts with all related individuals, make the reporting contracts and other issues like this. This is why we answer on request.
As for the reporters selection, it is also a good thing that this is to be decided by the conference owners. Most of them will always ask my opinion on the selection but the selections so far have always been well done. So, everyone at the end is happy with the report and the work delivered.
