>>Aye, point taken, Jos

IYO. As you said, you haven't tuned into the whole thread. I don't want a debate.

One could argue that they were more speciesist than racist, as they viewed jews, gypsies and the like as a sub-species. Look, I never said that Metim's remarks equated him with these people, but the tone of the "all a jewish global plot" theme is reminiscent of their themes.

>>Further I originally said to Metin (I think higher up this thread) that he's not gaining any friends sitting there firing off these accusatory and inflamatory remarks, apparently just to have someone to argue with...

>I dont think he is. He is expressing his opinion from his side of the world. A muslim world, in/near the middle east, from his background and viewpoint. People can choose to debate those viewpoints or ignore them as they like.

From my viewpoint he was sending little doodlebugs over, as if to ruffle feathers.

>>Others have tried to debunk the allegations he's made, encouraging HIM to do some more reading (other than biased Turkish books) - I can't be arsed and haven't the time to go researching to prove him wrong. I just want him to listen to what he's saying and see what it sounds like.
>
>Then you are as free to ignore his posts as he is to make them. That doesnt make him a racist or anti-semetic. If you dont want to bother to debate the viewpoints then just ignore them.

I still feel several remarks of his WERE anti-semitic, whether succumbing to propoganda or not.

>>Metin, you're not a racist but you sure seem to have a problem with the Israeli STATE et al, and if you don't want to have people thinking you are then keep these incendiaries to yours4elf.
>
>Why should he? Are we only allowed to express viewpoints which conform to the consensus here? Why not ask him to back up his opinions and claims. He has claimed Israel army has killed civilians. If you disagree you can either ask for the proof, argue against it, or filter him out. But such a claim does not make him a racist or a Nazi.

As I remember it, there WAS no consensus - he just opened fire on the US, (essentially) Israel, and the UK

>
>Think about this for a moment - who here on this forum has probably more to dislike about Saddam Hussein than the kurds who were gassed. Metin's father is kurdish. Do you think that he may have some strong negative feelings about the former regime in Iraq? Does he not have some personal connection with that part of the world? Can he not express an opinion about those events and the events that are currently occuring in that part of the world?

I must have missed the part where he was having a pop at Saddam.
Erm, one of the bars to Turkey's joining the EU is their attitude to their own Kurds.

Look, I don't know why you're having a go at me; I've mentioned what he sounds like - others have gone all out to call him racist
