>How does one implement the key combinations for French accent marks on a laptop? My laptop, a fairly new HP model, does not do it. I use ALT + 0233 for the French letter é on my desktop keyboard, but this is not possible on my laptop, unless I hook up a regular keyboard to the laptop?

I write in more than one language that uses accents. It is much easier to set your keybard to US-International that to have to press ALT-key combinations. This works in every version of Windows, desktops and laptops. You can get almost any letter you need with the same US keyboard layout:
áéíóúàèìòùüçÁÉÍÓÚ -- easy!
