This is all very fascinating. I've had many Jewish friends over the years, but I would hardly label the majority of them "liberal". Perhaps because of the differences in North and South. The northeast part of the US is more liberal than my corner of the world. Is the Jewish population there even more liberal than the average Yankee?
Also, how do you square social liberalism with the support of Israel? By that, I mean that the Right tends to be much more supportive of Israel than the Left. Sort of a paradox, IMHO.
