Glad to know you found the solution. It seemed to be a pretty complicated problem given the complete nonsense behavior of VS2005 in this case.

I have never seen such a problem, specially regarding to ASP.NET 2.0 and file system web projects once they try to abstract things such IIS and Frontpage Extensions completely...
