>Political parties in the Netherlands

I wish you had learned something from my messages.

>Partij van de Arbeid - left of center.
>Christen-Democratisch Appèl - not indicated, but my guess is more of a centerist party.

Center right.

>Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie - "conservative liberal" (there's an oxymoron).
>Generally seen as the most right wing of the major parties.

yep,

>Democraten 66 - centerist.
>GroenLinks - leftist.
>Socialistische Partij - hard left.
>Lijst Pim Fortuyn - right.

Yep.

>ChristenUnie - closer to left.
>Staatkundig Gereformeerde Partij - hard right.

Insignificant (< 2%) in dutch politics, based on religious values. Is not accepted by most dutch citizens as there is a lot of sex discrimination within this party.

>Whaddayaknow - the Netherlands does have a right wing to its political scene. Consider yourself debunked.

Again, you don't seem to get it. First the Staatkundig Gereformeerde Partij (SGP) I do not consider and accepted party as they are discriminating women (they cannot become a member). The lijst Pim fortuyn (LPF) is an odd one as it is the inheritance of the murdered Pim Fortuyn and its influence is declining quickly and probably is going into obscurity the next election.

The significant right wing is the VVD. But the US liberals are far to the right of that. It is not easy to say how the LPF stands in this comparison as the party generally is in disorder. Pim fortuyn himself might have been as right as US liberals, but he would have difficulty in fitting in US politics as he made no secret of the fact he was gay and though I do not know for certain he would be a forestander of gay marriage which is considered a left standpoint. BTW, he had no symphaty for hard religous groups so that would not place him at the far right either.

Dan, again you make the mistake to think that the right and left classification is conform the US classification of left and right. IT IS NOT. This is the DUTCH/EUROPEAN classification. As I have said that I belong to the right of the dutch political arena you can pretty much figure out where I belong.

Dan, if you know as much about foreign politics as you claim to know, you would not make those rookie mistakes. Please gain yourself a bit more knowledge before you something totally ignorant.
