Check the DSN settings in the Control panel.

Does the server name shows in the drop down?
Did you enter a valid user name and password to access the SQL Server? Was it Generic user account? If not and you used your widnows authentication check box, did you make sure you are added to that data base as a user on the server?

Did you click 'Test' button after that to make sure you can hit the server?
