Louisiana is the same. I have mostly negative feelings towards both New Jersey and Louisiana due to the time I spent in both states. I only spent 10 weeks in New Jersey and that was entirely at Fort Dix in the winter. Not a pleasant memory :o) I spent a year in Louisiana at Fort Polk. The state is beautiful, the people are wonderful, but it is rainy, hot, and sticky for a large portion of the year. I really like Lake Charles though. I went to New Orleans twice and Baton Rouge twice during different periods (not when I was in the military living there).

>>This is probably a good place to point out that most of the tolls between New Jersey and other states (New York, Pennsylvania) are one-way; you always have to pay to leave New Jersey. (This is _not_ a joke; it's true.)

>Having spent most of my young adulthood in New Jersey, I can say it is a wonderfully beautiful state, with only a few eyesores around Elizabeth where the oil refineries reside. New Jersey has a bad name--too bad.
