I really like that idea. Especially since (I think) the majority of Americans fall into the 'middle of the road' category in both major parties. Most are not hard-left Democrats nor far-right Republicans but instead share many of the same beliefs and preferences of Americans in the opposite party to which they belong (or think they belong). I know quite a few Democrats who agree with more Republican ideals than some diehard Republicans. But then the two major parties have changed so much in the past few years I don't know what officially constitutes a Democrat or a Republican today!
