>1. Illegal immigrant work is tatamount to slavery. It is not discrimmination against any minority or immigrant group but against those who abuse the workforce and take advantage of slave labor. It was wrong then and it is wrong now. It doesn't matter how many businesses will close shop if illegal immigrants are prevented from working - just as many went bust after slavery ended - many may when it becomes impossible to higher illegal immigrants in the future as well. FIne and punish those who higher illegal immigrants! It is a change that MUST happen. Illegal immigrants have no recourse for substandard working conditions or treatment. It is wrong, wrong, wrong. Just because it keeps a business open does not make it it ok. They are humans working and living in inhuman conditions.

>2. A construction company (lets use a drywall company as an example) hires all illegal immigrants and outbids all other companies for MONTHs on every job until finally the other companies can no longer compete and get jobs. The workers live 12-20 in a house, work 16 hour days in any weather and receive small wages. The owner pays no insurance on the workers, medical care, or taxes. When the other companies competing actually go out of business, the one that hired the illegal immigrants can then raise its rates but now there is little competition and it remains a winner. Still, the illegal immigrants continue to work longer hours in any weather and any condition for the same low substandard pay. This is happening here NOW.

>3. Security. Every new immigrant needs to pass security checks and background verifications. Not likely but a good goal. The borders need to close completely and an actual taxed workforce allowed through the borders (guest work program) instead. Track everyone who crosses our borders for work but let them work and gather taxes on them all. Provide medical care, workmen's comp insurance, and education for them all but take taxes from their wages to compensate.

>4. Also important: nothing will improve in Mexico unless its citizens remain there and work to change it rather than leaving and working in the U.S. instead.

I don't necessarily disagree with any of your statement and I strongly agree with #4. But ILLEGAL ALIENS, by definition, don't have any rights anyway, do they?.
The American Republic will endure, until politicians realize they can bribe the people with their own money.
- Alexis de Tocqueville

No man’s life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session.
– Mark Twain (1866)
