Hi Rich,

From my experience it is useless to do this on individual points. Of course we can talk about:
- Our drug policy.
- Gay marriage
- Abortion
- Welfare state
- Individual, corporate taxes
- Religion
- Economics
- Individual freedom

But this would result in the same issues, because of course my standpoints are debunked by definition left, regardless of what position it has in dutch society.

I think better is to use http://www.rationalrevolution.net/articles/redefining_the_political_spectru.htm as a reference and discuss topics from there. It seems like a very extensive paper with some well thought models to start referencing from.

Walter,

>It's time for you guys to start defining your terms in a more concrete fashion. "Left" and "right" are relative terms based on the definition of what a "center" position would be.

>Choose an issue. Define the American left-wing position on that issue. Then describe what the European left-wing and European right-wing position would be.
