Same here. My wife and daughters were out of town for the weekend and I rented the DVD of the first episodes of the first season. I was immediately hooked and went over to Best Buy and bought the box set of the whole season. By the time the ladies were back I had watched all 13 episodes. "Riveting" is an overused word but it applies.

I have to agree with you that this season is not off to a rousing start. Well, it was a rousing start but now it's treading water. This week's episode was SO lame. (All you ever wanted to know about AJ, coming on the heels of all you ever wanted to know about Artie Bucco and all you ever wanted to know about Vito -- not much!). I refuse to believe this is all the bullets David Chase has left in his holster. Four episodes left in the final season, part one, and then the last eight next spring -- time to ramp it up. Some things need to start getting resolved instead of just bouncing all over the place.

Ah, well. Even when it's maddening it's still the most thought-provoking show going. Comparing "24" to "The Sopranos" is like comparing a Camaro to a Maserati.
