Nice story.

>When I was nineteen years old, I moved to New Orleans and got a job on riverboat, unloading cargo at different ports up and down the Mississippi. Back then New Orleans was still a vibrant city; the bottom hadn't dropped out of the oil market yet, and jobs were easy to come by. I lived just outside the French Quarter, down the block from the Dream Palace, where the Neville brothers used to play every Saturday night. Of course, they were not as famous then, but they always packed the house whenever they played. When they finished playing at five in the morning, anyone who still there joined them for breakfast at Aunt Sally's Truck Stop Restaurant. Those were days full of magic and adventure. Living in New Orleans was almost like being in another country; the city had its own culture and its art was unique. I loved it then, and I am saddened by what has happened to such a great city.

>>Louisiana is the same. I have mostly negative feelings towards both New Jersey and Louisiana due to the time I spent in both states. I only spent 10 weeks in New Jersey and that was entirely at Fort Dix in the winter. Not a pleasant memory :o) I spent a year in Louisiana at Fort Polk. The state is beautiful, the people are wonderful, but it is rainy, hot, and sticky for a large portion of the year. I really like Lake Charles though. I went to New Orleans twice and Baton Rouge twice during different periods (not when I was in the military living there).

>>>Having spent most of my young adulthood in New Jersey, I can say it is a wonderfully beautiful state, with only a few eyesores around Elizabeth where the oil refineries reside. New Jersey has a bad name--too bad.
