Luckily I don't care about what statement is put out. History will be the judge.

If in 10-20 years Iraq is free, democratic and an ally of the US, then the war will have been a success. If other middle eastern countries follow suit, even better. If terrorism in that part of the world is negligible (think IRA or KKK) then Bush will be seen as one of history's most important figures.

On the contrary, if Iraq falls back into dictatorship or a Iranian style theocracy, then the war will have been a failure.

If Iraq descends into full-on civil war and breaks into 3 seperate countries, then more time will be needed.

>>His message is incomplete. It gives a one-sided view of what is going on and it may just be because he has been against this from the begining that he is pointing out only opinions that back up his initial position. Hence he sites the same old arguements in the face of contradicting reports.

>>I have posted numerous links to articles, interviews and blogs which describe the situation in Iraq much differently then is being expressed by Murtha, Odom and the rest of the 'leave Iraq now' crowd. I can produce dozens more if you wish, but I doubt you'll "take them seriously". :)

>>History will judge whether his opinion was/is right or not. Until we see what emerges, no one can say whether it has been successful or not.

>I think that the key word here is “it”, the indefinite object. May 1, 2003 – “Mission accomplished”! For whatever reason if and when we leave Iraq, there will be a statement referring that we did everything we set out to do, regardless of what that may or may not be.
