I think the real question is who would want to have thier convention/conference in Phoenix at this time of year? Personally I'd rather blow the extra 100 bucks and actually be able to enjoy myself while I was there - that or go somewhere else that made sense. This is just ridicilious - hey lets all goto a spa in the middle of the desert during the hottest time of the year! If you don't mind heat-stroke maybe you can play 3 minutes golf before you pass out.

>I guessing the date was picked at this time for the discount -- who would want to have their convention/conference in Phoenix at this time and not get a heavy discount?

>>119 is not uncommon at all that time of year. No matter what, it's gonna be well over 100 and probably over 110 EVERY day. When I go to conventions and such I like to spend a few extra days around the city and look around - maybe goto a nearby national or state park or something. This is just stupid though - you're not going to be able to do ANYTHING other that hide in the airconditioning at "Desert Ridge Resort"!

>>>I have only been through Arizona during the summer. Once it was only 119 in the shade. I found no shade though! :)

>>>>End of August - in Phoenix? You gotta be kidding me. Who is it that picks these locations? If we're not on the Florida coast in the middle of hurricane season, then we're in middle of the desert the hottest part of the entire year! Ever been Phoenix in the middle of summer like that? It doesn't even get below 90 degrees AT NIGHT!
