About 10 years ago I ran a lot of stats using Fox and SPSS. I used Fox to input data and set the data up and did the analysis using SPSS. SPSS is for heavy duty stats and the base package (version 14, I think)is about $1800. Writing SPSS procedures to run the stats was very close to xbase coding except for a few punctuation differences.
