I think one of the reasons (and I could be wrong) is that Win95 is buffering the actual physical writes to disk while reporting back up to VFP that the write was committed. I know that when table buffering is used with moderate traffic levels, an occasional corruption is almost inevitable.

Perhaps if you moved to a client/server topology with something inexpensive like Sybase SQLAnywhere brokering all data read/writes you could eliminate the problem.
