One of the many things I have to deal with is Diabetes, and one of the results of that is that I have to wear white cotton, ankle high socks. All the time. Since the problem is more about circulation than it is the dye, I have black ones that I wear to match (as best as possible) what I'm wearing.
But the others are right; white socks with anything but athletic wear is tacky. And so are - Craig must be the exception here - socks with sandals. Socks with sandals? What's the world coming to?!
>What is it with Americans and white socks? Even cops and other uniformed personnel seem to wear them, with their dark uniforms. Not me personnally but it's considered bad taste over here. Is it a tradition, requirement or what?
