If you running your Network on WindowXP it means you have installed MSDE.
If it is MSDE than install it with these parameters.
SETUP.exe SAPWD=sa SECURITYMODE=SQL
The SECURITYMODE should be SQL.

Have you installed SQL Server Enterprise Manager and Registered you Server?
