A direct translation of "smotan" (from "motati" - to roll, wind, make a skein out of yarn)... which directly means "rolled up", "on a reel", and kind of resembles "tangled up". A guy who is not just shy, but doesn't say the right things, do the right things, or generally doesn't know what to say or do.
