>We have a major application written in VFP with VFP as the database on the backend. We are transitioning to multiple back-ends (eg. VFP, MS SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, etc.) In addition, we want to consider converting to .NET. Our plan is to create an n-tier application with a thin UI, business tier and multiple back-ends, but leaving the front end and middle tier written in VFP for now. We think that this will give us the ability to gradually transition to .NET if and when we so choose.
>Has anyone on this thread used one of the commercial frameworks with n-tier modeling? Is anyone able to provide pros and cons from their survey of available frameworks that could help us in our choice of framework for this project? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I can recommend the Mere Mortals frameworks, for VFP and .NET. I think those products will help ease the transition from VFP to .NET for you.
