>>Have you been out to Dodger Stadium? It's a pretty nice place to watch a ballgame. The only bad part is you have to watch the Dodgers, the most unaccountably dull team in pro sports. Bring back Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale.

You hit the nail on the head. In terms of amenities Fenway is a terrible place to watch a ballgame. You feel every one of the 100 years or however long it's been standing -- cramped, hard seats, poor sightlines, posts obstructing views all over the place. Getting to and from the park, one of the few remaining stadiums in urban neighborhoods, is hideous, and the prices get more hideous all the time. But you can't beat the sense of atmosphere and history. The Green Monster, the net, the manual scoreboard, the Citgo sign. You look out at left field and realize Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, and Jim Rice patrolled it in a practically uninterrupted run of 50 years. Coors Field and Miller Park, to name two examples, may be far more pleasant places to take in a game, but they can never touch that history. At least not for a long time.

Now you've made me want to go see a game <g>. (Whichever team is home today is probably going to be rained out, though).
