Here I can provide more details about Payroll application.

System is complex.
It needs to interact with other new systems to develop,
including General Ledger, Scheduling and Job Costing apps,
but also could be used alone.
It should be networking, but no client-server or Intranet.
Just basic definitions of the project have been provided.
Generally speaking, client has Payroll for DOS, written in BASIC about
10 years ago, and just short user manual for that. Client wants the new app
to provide at least the same functions as old one.
There are new requirements, inspired by Windows GUI, but they are not
clearly provided, and client constantly changes his mind about them - it may
be described as "Do whatever you want, but give me what I have in my mind".
So, design document does not exist. Some business rules are defined.
Delivery platform is Windows 95.
Delivery date is April 1997.
User manual should be written.
One system tester on staff, and one independent.
System also supposed for reselling by client.
2 weeks of training and 6 month guarantee including corrections and bugs.
