Glad to hear you're doing well. Too bad you couldn't make it to my presenation to DFWFox. They indicated they would like me to come back for an all day seminar. Maybe we can hook up then.

>Just spending a lazy day on-line this afternoon. I just got back from spending the morning and early afternoon at the Ft Worth Zoo with my 6 year-old son.

>So far I am really enjoying my new work. Yea, I am still doing some dev work. I don't think I will ever be able to shake that unless I follow a career path like training to be a helicopter pilot (and I don't see that happening). Earlier this year, I spent 4 straight weeks in southeast Louisiana (north shore of Lake Ponchartrain) for Katrina related work and had a blast. We were inspecting water systems (over 200 in 4 weeks) to assess damage repair progress. As part of that effort, I wound up developing a VFP/Word automation app to generate all the site evaluation reports, some VFP/Excel automation code to create all the files FEMA needed, and some Oracle work to get the data into the State's database. The dev work was at night (very long days) while the inspections were done during the day.

>While Katrina and Rita were devastating, they have created enormous opportunity in souther Louisiana and southeast Texas. Even in the fast food service industry down there, employers are giving $250 bonuses for each full week of work, signing bonuses for managers, etc.

>I will be going back down to Baton Rouge at the end of next week with some other people at EPA to start preparing for the upcoming season and discussing "lessons learned" from last September.

>I know I could start a blog, but I really don't care to since I would only post very infrequently. Besides, I would rather come back here to "see" the familiar faces I have known all these years.
