Yes, I do get the same result. Here is some further research on the problem:
The problem occurs only for Courier 10 and 12, not for Times New Roman 10 or 12. (I didn't check any other fonts.) This is under WinNT, using Word 97 SR-1. Excel yields the same results.
The same machine also runs Win95 with a different version of Word. Under Win95 using Word 7.0, the Courier underline is fine.
This seems to be a problem with the SR-1 version of Office. Do you know if this is a known problem? Is a patch available?
