Thanks for your input, I had already made up my mind that not being able to use a grid for data entry would be a "Deal Breaker" for VFP. My FPD program looks and acts very much like a grid with complete and complex data entry and validation. Clients love it, and so do I.

Your comments and those of Dragan Nedljkovich and others who have been successful with grids have encouraged me to give it a shot.

I've been working with FPD longer that I'd like to remember, primarily building and maintaining the my own vertical app. So my experience isn't as diverse.

I learned early on with Foxpro two painful lessons.
One, everything will be resolved in the next release....
two, it's not what you can do that kills you, it's what you can't...

My goals are slightly different as well. If I make any money it's from the App, not from being a programmer. So I have to be able to produce programs that don't just work (which is many of the Foxpro apps I've seen), but one that can compete with a commercial shop (or at least come close).

Now I'd better go make a data entry grid.....
