>>Came last sunday from Serbia and I can tell you that beer *situation* greatly improved!
>
>Been there last year - and we can't call it "a situation" anymore. It's really good.

So it was not only me thinking that beers quality used to be catastrophic
in 90ies. (Like everything else for that matter).

>>Lav (Celarevsko) improved dramatically (to exellent) since bought by Carlsberg corporation,
>
>I think I tried one of those, but wasn't impressed. Probably the sight of the label still brings bad memories. I probably have some reflex reaction just like that guy Pavlov had.

>>Tuborg is good as well, and also there is 'Lasko' comming from Slovenia. Did not hv chance to try Niksicko.
>
>Didn't have it last summer, but Nikšićko crno (black) was great. Whenever there wasn't much of dark beer to choose from, they'd have Nikšićko, always at the right temperature - and mind you, it was beginning of August - just perfect to enjoy being a tourist in your hometown :).
>
>>BTW they started packing 'Lav' in 2L botles (!) so if you go back home be carefull ordering 'large as usual' :)
>
>That's for the cases when you're not alone - had a few glasses with my wife and her brother, it was just as good as liGHT beer (not lITE at all) can get. Though it wasn't Löwenbräu (aka "Lav"), it was Apatinsko, which was also amazing. Back at college I couldn't drink more than half a glass of that beer anywhere except at "Domino" in Novi Sad, which was a Hungarian bar where (I visited often while) I studied.

I went to 'Domino' few times but in late 80es. I never saw before (or later)
such funny looking (diesel?) heater. It just needed few led indicators and buttons and you could easily mistake it for - TimeMachine!

You should see Novi Sad Now... My God, I got lost in my own nighbourhood !
(ZelStanica->Sajmiste)! Whole Novi Sad is truly BEAUTIFUL.
Wish I was able to move back there sooner then 20 years from now :(
I wld go tmrw if possible :)
