I would not have even posted this, since the local Fox news seems more close to the National Enquirer then a news station. But there's been many articles over the last several years about the military lowering their recruiting standards due to the war.

I forget where I read an article last year on the tremendous pressure recruiters are under these days to meet their quota's. Some recuiters claiming they teach potential recruits how to hide things that would normally get them disqualified.

>Let's hope that at least they do not make it into any specialized units which provide 'specialized' training. Now that would be scary! Rangers, SF, Delta, Black ops...

>Really, when I was in at every location there was always that one who made you wonder how he made it through the system without getting discharged. I was stationed at a LOT of locations over the years so it adds up. Still, if there were 1 in every battalion that is only 1 out of (oops, not supposed to say how strong a battalion is...)

>>That's kinda what I figured. The local Fox news is great at sensationalizing their 10:00pm news.
>>
>>They supposidly showed video of what looks like a gang party coming from an Army base. And another video of a gang member using military tactics to shoot at some cops.
>>
>>>>I don't know how true this is, it was seen on the local Fox news, who tend to sensationalize everything. But they had a story on tonite about gang members signing up for military duty to learn better methods of warfare. They can then return to the streets with their new knowledge.

>>>>I don't know how much this fits with the stories of the military accepting mentally ill recruits.
>>>>
>>>>But it sounds like we have some military recruiting problems now.
>>>
>>>The problems are no different than they were when I was wearing the green in the 1980's. We had our share of people in basic training that weren't quite all there, and they didn't always wash out. Some made it to line units, but the real problem cases were usually discovered and either isolated or chaptered out.
>>>
>>>The military is a huge organization, and there will be a percentage of undesirables in it. I would say this is an example of sensationalist reporting.
