Title:
How can I speed up a VFP app running across a WAN ?
I have had an app running successfully on several LANs
at offices in different locations for a year.
However a colleague has been testing it across the company's
WAN with a view to centralising the database and we are
experiencing dire speed problems.
If we open a 2.6 DBF in Lotus across the WAN it is fairly
quick to load into the sheet.
However if we try to run the app it takes ages to
open the DBFs and CDXs and get into the records browse
(we can see the files opening on the status bar).
It's not too bad for speed once all the files are opened.
There will be an additional problem that all files are closed when
returning to the app's main menu and re-opened when choosing a
subsequent option.
What can I do to speed it up ?
I have converted the app to VFP and will be making it a
'DELETE-free zone' so SET DELETED can be OFF.
