But from what I heard, it seems that (according to the story) someone uncovers a secret plot by the Vatican, to cover the "real story", namely, that Jesus survived, and had descendants. Now, if I understood this plot part correctly, I see three potential problems for the Church.

  • The claim that they are behind some sort of cover-up.

  • The idea that Jesus survived. He was supposed to have died for our sins.

  • And, finally, the idea that He had children - it seems that this goes against the ideas of some people about "purity".

As you probably know, the book is heavily based on "the Holy Blood & the Holy Grail". As fascinating a read as that is (and I was taken in by its "facts" back in the 90s), and despite its peat-bog-based foundations, one of the themes that is true, AFAIK, is that nowhere does the bible state that Jesus was still a cherry, nor that he never married. It doesn't mention whose marriage it was, where He turned the water into wine (HBHG speculates that it may have been his own - to Mary).

As for the rest oif the Bible - the miracles, the faith, Virgin birth, etc., we've been here before and oughtn't delve any deeper, or we'll awaken the kraken that is Howard Bennet :-)
