Thanks for the reply. I will remove the buffering on the master table and try your suggestions. As for the primary vs candidate index selection... I don't know why it is as it is. I'm wondering if it's a long standing mistake. Since I"m the one who set it up, I'll check my notes and see why I did it this why ... assuming there was a good reason <g>.
