I would be very wary of using the ASCII clause, IMHO, VFP has not dealt with irregularities that have been present since early version of fox. It is very difficult to format a report to work dependably with the ASCII clause, because Fox will cut out columns without warning. Be aware that your current printer setting affects the manner in which the report is formatted to ASCII, even though you are not printing the file at all. Different printers have different printable areas and a report formatted and tested with one printer will have unexplained missing data when run from a machine that uses a different printer.
