I forgot that US tution is unaffordable for a student. Canadian tuitions are rising, but still are affordable. Though I took out loans for the first 2 years, when I started with the computing CO-OP program I was able to pay my own way.
With grad school, you can pay your way through by working for professors on projects and also working for the university as a teaching assist.
