You're basically echoing what I said few months ago.
I don't have a problem with fighting for oil, as long as it is available for the whole world. Who better equip to do that then the good o'USA and Britain? Those who keep criticizing that this is all about oil and for the big oil companies, let them give up their cars and anything that runs on man made energy... then they can criticize, until then, just say thank you.

>I don't agree. Ultimately I think it is about oil. It is about attempting to ensure stability in the middle east in order to ensure stability of the supply of oil from that entire region, not just Iraq. The US, Europe, and indeed the entire world's economies all require oil. Energy makes the world go round.

>>Why people cannot understand this war not about oil. If USA wanted Iraq's oil this would be a so easy issue. USA can sell tin made cars and some medicines Iraq and can get Iraq's oil.
>>
>>This is not an oil war. This war and probably if will Iran war is about domination. Israel has most poverfull army and one country has nuclear bombs in mediterrian-easy and they don't want to see another second...

>>>It's also a load of carp. I don't have time to pick it to pieces but here's one tidbit of wrong information:
>>>
>>>...the United States is receiving a tremendous amount of oil from Iraq. Oil is down in overall export and production, but not tremendously so. We were -- at prewar was 2.5 million barrels a day. We’re now at about 2 or 2.2 million barrels a day. But 50% of that, on average, is coming to the United States...
>>>
>>>According to official government energy statistics, we are nowhere near importing 50% of Iraqi oil production. More like 25%. Most Iraqi crude goes to Europe and Japan.
The American Republic will endure, until politicians realize they can bribe the people with their own money.
- Alexis de Tocqueville

No man’s life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session.
