>Is that "Charlie Parker Is God?" trailer new? If not I was slow to notice it. And IAC, we are in complete agreement (even if we are in disagreement about the current Sopranos season ;) ). On one level I am uncomfortable with describing any mortal as a god. OTOH maybe someone or something did touch CP on the shoulder. There was no rational reason to think a man with his background would become such a giant.

>This is going to seem like a weird segue, and probably is. Years ago there was a discussion on the Compuserve FoxForum about the best music to code by. The participants in the discussion were practically a Who's Who of FoxPro developers. The most popular answer was probably Silence. The other answers were quite interesting, befitting such a diverse community. It was everything from classical to jazz to country, with the various genres of rock dominating the vote. Pat Adams said one of the few things I ever agreed with her about [lol] -- Creedence is great debugging music.

Before that he had a great recording career himself. He just wasn't mainstream, and would never want to be, but he made some great records.

For me Parker, Miles, Tom Harrell, Art Blakey, Bud Powell etc are listening music, not coding music. That's the stuff I listen to in order to cool down and get centered again. For coding, I want to keep things moving, so I like to listen to the really old stuff. The classic jazz of Goodman's small groups, Mugsy Spanier, Lionel Hampton, Art Tatum, Eddie Condon's vrs groups, Mary Lou Williams; that kind of stuff. It keeps the adrenaline going and it keeps my mind kicking.
