To be honest, I'm a bit underwhelmed by that article. Having done contract work for 8 years out of my career, there are no guarantees. You expect every day to be your last - and it could be - and hope that it brings you at least to your next mortgage payment. It's what you sign up for. These contractors had no problem agreeing to work for the company. The company does not care them, and they should know that. It's part of the bargain. To be honest, permanent employees aren't much better off, they just don't know it. At least as a contractor, you know the score upfront.
