I've just done that using Jim's instructions. We have Windows 2000, not Windows 2003, so some dialogs were different. Now I'm trying
o = createobjectex("{6A31F085-E8EB-4B1D-9C50-749F98E671DF}","\\JZANUS8")

and getting
OLE error code 0x8000401a: The server process could not be started because the configured identity is incorrect. Check the username and password.

So, it's a step forward <g>
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
