I found that VFP was destroying the dBase MDX no matter what I did: Insert, Append, with or without index open. This has been a major headache, as I thought I would simply be converting dBase into Fox, but it is happening in stages.

Currently, I am placing records in a temporary table (created in dBase, same structure as the eventual destination) and then calling a compiled dBase executable to append the records into the dBase table. It's a pain, but I was not aware that you can talk to dBase with ODBC. I'll try that.
