>It's finally out on DVD! This is one of the three shows I've been waiting for. Now if Mission Impossible and Get Smart can only make it to DVD.
"The Wild, Wild West" was one of my favorite shows as a kid. (Any of you youngsters who fondly remember watching "Friends" as a kid, please spare my ego! LOL). Among other things I loved the way one of the pieces of the collage would be filled in before each commercial break.
Then I grew up and learned Robert Conrad was about 5'6" and practically invented the concept of short leading men shot at angles to make them look taller, and was by all reports a world class jerk besides. Some action hero! A few years ago in a motel room in the south I watched about half of a rerun and wondered what I could have been thinking when I liked it that much. Maybe your mileage will vary but don't be surprised if rewatching those old shows leaves you disheartened.
"Moonlighting" and "Hill Street Blues", OTOH -- there are two old shows that haven't lost a step. "Moonlighting" in particular is something I put on when I need some laughs with a hint of romance. My daughters love it, too, so I don't think it's just an old fogey thing. A couple weekends ago we watched the one that ends with a high speed chase / funeral procession.
"Get Smart" was a classic, I agree with you there. Wasn't Mel Brooks one of the writers? "Larrabee, follow that car!" "I *asked* you not to tell me that." "Missed it by *that* much." "Would you believe....?"
